How Many People Entered Evo 2026?

Evo publishes final registration counts after each event, which makes them the cleanest year-over-year read on turnout in Las Vegas.

Every returning Arena title lost ground. Rivals of Aether II went the other way, though it moved up from the Evo 2025 Extended Lineup to the 2026 main lineup, so its two counts sit in different tiers of the same event.

2XKO debuted at 1,080 entrants, third on the Evo 2026 leaderboard. Evo 2025 counted 8,541 unique competitors from 64 countries; Evo 2026 counted 5,774 from 50.

Bracket Crossover At Evo 2026

More than 2,000 of the 5,774 competitors registered for two or more main brackets. The largest overlap was Street Fighter 6 and 2XKO at 436 shared players.

Rivals of Aether II had the highest share of single-game entrants at 66.7%, followed by TEKKEN 8 at 56.2%. Both figures are Evo’s own, and the pattern echoes the way players split time across unfinished libraries rather than concentrating on one title.

Fighting Game Community Records At Evo Japan 2026

Capcom confirmed the Guinness World Records certification in a May 20, 2026 press release. The record covers participant count in a single-title fighting game tournament.

The 9,717 count is cumulative across titles, so it is not a headcount of unique attendees. Capcom does not publish an entrant split by game in that release.

Fighting Game Community Sales Data

Capcom lists per-title unit sales on its Platinum Titles page. The figures below are shipments and full-game downloads combined, not active players.

Street Fighter V8.00 millionFeb 2016
Street Fighter 67.20 millionJun 2023
Street Fighter II (SNES)6.30 millionJun 1992

The Street Fighter series has sold 60.0 million units lifetime as of June 30, 2026, per Capcom’s Game Series Sales page. Marvel vs. Capcom sits at 13.0 million on the same page and the same date.

Street Fighter 6 has not yet passed Street Fighter V’s 8.00 million. Capcom has kept adding paid characters on a season cadence, a release pattern worth reading against industry-wide patch and update frequency data.

Fighting Game Community Viewership: Capcom Cup

Esports Charts tracks peak concurrent viewers and hours watched across Twitch, YouTube and other broadcast platforms. Capcom Cup 11 is the most-watched edition in its database.

EditionPeak viewersHours watchedPeak date
Capcom Cup IX105,2891,525,937Feb 20, 2023

Capcom Cup 11354,0395,569,349Mar 8, 2025

Capcom Cup 11 ran a $1.28 million prize pool. Capcom Cup X’s was $1,734,000, so prize money and viewership have not moved in step across editions.

Live attendance set its own mark. Capcom Cup 12 and the Street Fighter League: World Championship 2025, held together at Ryogoku Kokugikan from March 11–15, 2026, drew a record 20,000 attendees.

Capcom put the 2026 season prize pool above $2.1 million total, keeping a $1 million grand prize for Capcom Cup. Those sums are modest next to the sponsorship money circulating in the broader esports team valuation picture.

Which Fighting Game Leads On Steam?

SteamDB records all-time peak concurrent players on PC. The measure covers Steam only, so it excludes console and arcade audiences.

TitleAll-time Steam peakDate
Street Fighter 672,977May 28, 2026
TEKKEN 849,977Jan 26, 2024

Source: SteamDB, peak concurrent players

Street Fighter 6 broke its own record twice in 2026: 72,067 on March 17 with the Alex release, then 72,977 on May 28 with Ingrid. Its launch-era peak was 70,573 on June 3, 2023.

Trackers disagree slightly on the May figure. EventHubs reported Steam Charts logging 72,217 against SteamDB’s 72,977 for the same peak, so both numbers are in circulation.

TEKKEN 8’s peak still dates to its January 2024 launch window. PC concurrency also sits alongside handheld ownership, covered separately in Steam Deck install base and survey data.

Fighting Game Community Growth At Combo Breaker

Combo Breaker is run independently of any publisher circuit, which makes its registration count a useful counterweight to Evo’s decline.

The 2026 event, held May 22–24 in Schaumburg, Illinois, listed 7,098 attendees on start.gg. The 2025 edition listed 5,899. Registration closed in 2026 with 24 main-lineup titles.

The lineup runs deep into legacy titles, from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. That demand tracks with continued interest in older catalogue games and with resale market activity for used titles.

Why Did Riot End 2XKO Development?

Riot Games announced on August 20, 2026 that active development of 2XKO concludes at the end of 2026. Riot said it had not seen enough players stay with the game to reach sustainability.

2XKO had been the third-largest bracket at Evo 2026 with 1,080 entrants, ahead of Guilty Gear -Strive- and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Bracket size did not track with retention.

Servers stay online past 2026 and offline play is unaffected. Riot plans two more champions, Lux in September and Samira in October, with a final bug-fix patch in December 2026.

Riot is refunding purchases made on or before August 20, 2026, and removing ranked mode, seasons and battle passes. Those systems are the standard live-service revenue model described in battle pass and season pass spending data.

One caution on reading these numbers together: entrant counts, unit sales, concurrent players and viewer peaks measure four different things. Street Fighter 6 leads on all four, but a title can hold a large bracket and a small retained audience, which is what the 2XKO figures show.
