Is Golf With Friends Cross Platform in 2026?

No. Golf With Your Friends lacks crossplay across consoles. Only Steam players on Windows, Mac and Linux share lobbies.

Team17 has confirmed full crossplay for the sequel, Golf With Your Friends 2, due in fall 2026.

TL;DR – Golf With Friends Crossplay Status

Crossplay vs Cross-Platform vs Cross-Save In Golf With Friends

FeatureSupported
Cross-platform availabilityYes
CrossplayPC Only
Cross-saveNo

Cross-platform here only means wide release. Golf With Your Friends left early access on May 19, 2020, launching on Windows, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

The base game shipped with 234 holes spread over 13 courses. Every platform got them, but the lobbies never meet.

Hats, trails and unlocks stay where they were earned. Some games sync progress through linked accounts, as Dead by Daylight does with cross-progression. This one never added that.

Which Platforms Can Play Golf With Friends Together?

Here’s how multiplayer actually works in Golf With Friends:

Platform pairingCrossplay
PC / Mac / Linux✔︎ Yes
PC ↔ ConsoleNo
PlayStation ↔ XboxNo
Xbox ↔ SwitchNo
MobileNo multiplayer

The PC exception covers Steam only. A Team17 support agent confirmed in February 2021 that Game Pass PC and Steam copies cannot see each other’s rooms.

Console lobbies stay closed too. Switch owners golf with Switch owners. PlayStation and Xbox follow the same rule.

Generations mix a little. Xbox Series X|S owners run the Xbox One release, so both share one pool. PS5 owners play the PS4 version the same way.

A Steam Community thread from March 2026 asked if PS5 and PC could connect. Replies said the game never supported it, and Team17 has announced no patch.

Mixed-platform groups have other picks for now. Sea of Thieves links Xbox, PC and PlayStation crews, while Grounded supports crossplay for survival co-op.

PC (Steam)

Xbox

Steam holds the widest pool, since three operating systems share it. Consoles keep separate queues. For older golf and party titles, try Mario Golf on N64 or a browser round of the first Mario Party.
