Is Don’t Starve Together cross platform in 2026?

No. Don’t Starve Together crossplay works only between PC, Mac and Linux on Steam. Consoles and mobile stay separate.

Klei Entertainment has kept that split since the 2016 launch. The mobile port that arrived in July 2026 did not change it.

TL;DR – Don’t Starve Together Crossplay Status

Crossplay: PC only

Consoles: Same-platform only

Mobile: Mobile-only co-op

Cross-save: Not supported

Cross-generation: The PS4 build runs on PS5 and the Xbox One build runs on Series X|S, so cross-gen friends share servers inside each family.

Crossplay vs Cross-Platform vs Cross-Save In Don’t Starve Together

FeatureSupported
Cross-platform availabilityYes
CrossplayPC Only
Cross-saveNo

Those three get mixed up constantly. Don’t Starve Together sells on nearly every system, which is availability, not crossplay.

Klei does let you link accounts for shared skin unlocks. That copy is read-only, and Klei Points, Spools and Bolts of Cloth never transfer.

Plenty of survival games sit in the same spot. Palworld opened crossplay but skipped cross-save, and Elden Ring never opened either one.

Which Platforms Can Play Don’t Starve Together Together?

Here’s how multiplayer actually works in Don’t Starve Together:

Platform PairingWorks
PC / Mac / Linux✔ Yes

Steam handles the PC side, so a Mac player joins a Windows host with no setup. That is the whole of Don’t Starve Together cross platform multiplayer.

There is no account link that widens it, unlike the Epic system Rocket League uses. Klei never built one, so a Steam Deck counts as a PC and nothing more.

Playdigious published the iOS and Android version on 21 July 2026. Its support page states mobile players match only with other mobile players, and that crossplay is not planned.

Servers hold six players by default. PlayStation, Xbox and Switch each add two-player local split-screen, which households that game together tend to use more than online lobbies.
