River City Ransom is an open-world beat ’em up with RPG elements developed and published by Technōs Japan for the NES, part of the Kunio-kun series. Playing as Alex or Ryan, one or two players brawl through River City’s gangs to rescue Ryan’s girlfriend Cyndi from Slick — earning money from defeated enemies to buy food, items, and permanent stat and technique upgrades at malls.
