7 Days to Die cross-platform multiplayer guide showing supported PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, crossplay, and cross-save details.

Is 7 Days to Die Cross Platform in 2026?

Yes. 7 Days to Die crossplay links PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players in the same session.

The Fun Pimps shipped the feature in the V1.2 patch in December 2024. Dedicated server crossplay arrived with V2.0 in June 2025.

  • Cross-save: Not supported
  • Cross-generation: the 2016 PS4 and Xbox One release runs on a separate legacy build and cannot join current-gen games.

Crossplay vs Cross-Platform vs Cross-Save In 7 Days to Die

FeatureSupported
Cross-platform availabilityYes
CrossplayYes, PC and current-gen consoles
Cross-saveNo

Crossplay started as a peer-to-peer feature. The V1.2 patch opened host games to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in December 2024, and the Xbox and Microsoft Store builds trailed the rest by a few days in certification.

Buying 7 Days to Die twice gets you two separate characters. Progress stays on the platform that recorded it, the same limit Ready or Not players run into.

Which Platforms Can Play 7 Days to Die Together?

Here’s how multiplayer actually works in 7 Days to Die:

Platform pairingWorks
PC / Mac / Linux✔ Yes
PC ↔ Console✔ Yes
PlayStation ↔ Xbox✔ Yes
Xbox ↔ SwitchNo Switch release
MobileNo mobile release

Two settings decide whether the lobby fills. Crossplay has to be on, and Easy Anti-Cheat has to stay enabled, or console players never see the game.

Everyone also needs the same version number. Mods break the connection for console players, which puts modded PC servers in the same bracket as Don’t Starve Together’s PC-only co-op.

V2.0 Storm’s Brewing widened that in June 2025 by adding dedicated server crossplay. Console players pick those servers from the in-game browser rather than typing an address.

The old console port from 2016 sits outside all of this. It stopped receiving updates, and its saves do not carry over to the PS5 or Xbox Series builds.

What Is The Best Platform For 7 Days to Die?

PC (Steam)mod support, dedicated servers, larger worlds
PlayStation 5steady frame rate, fast loading
Xbox Series X|Squick resume, controller comfort
Mac / Linuxnative builds, full crossplay

Console lobbies stay small, so a full PC dedicated server is still the route to bigger groups. Matchmaking never splits PC from consoles the way Rainbow Six Siege keeps its PC pool apart.

PC keeps the mods and the server tools. Consoles trade that for stability, much like Diablo 4 across its platforms. Handheld players should check Steam Deck ownership numbers first.
