Is Rust Down Right Now?
Official servers take short maintenance windows on Mondays and Thursdays, usually under five minutes. The monthly forced wipe lands on the first Thursday and pulls servers offline for longer. Battle royale players see the same pattern in the PUBG: Battlegrounds player count on patch days.
About Rust
Facepunch Studios put Rust into Steam Early Access on 11 December 2013 and shipped version 1.0 on 8 February 2018. Players start on a hostile island with a rock and a torch, then gather wood, stone and metal to craft tools, build bases and make weapons.
Servers run persistent worlds that wipe monthly. Clans raid rival bases, trade at safe-zone outposts and fight over monument loot. There are no character levels: progress runs through scrap, blueprints and the tech tree. Double Eleven builds Rust Console Edition, which links PlayStation and Xbox players but not PC.
